In order to be accepted as a student at TU Chemnitz (an additional application for the study course “Automobilproduktion und -technik” is required), the respective student has to prove that their German level is at least DSH 1 (the rough equivalent is B2). The following language certificates will be acknowledged:
• Zeugnis der Deutschen Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber/innen – DSH-1, DSH-2, DSH-3
• TestDaF-Zeugnis - Mindestvoraussetzung Niveaustufe 3 in allen vier Teilprüfungen
• Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung des Goethe-Institutes - ZOP
• Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom des Goethe-Institutes – KDS
• Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom des Goethe-Institutes - GDS
• Deutsches Sprachdiplom, Stufe II der Kultusministerkonferenz – DSD II
• Zeugnis über eine erfolgreich abgelegte Feststellungsprüfung – FSP
• Zeugnis des Goethe-Institutes- mind. B2, C1

With DSH1 level, students are obliged to attend an advanced German language module during their first semester (first and second year). Students with a higher German level can choose whether to attend this module, which is part of the double degree curriculum.

During the first year, students can also attend English or French language courses to prepare for their second year. These language courses (and their technical alternatives)  are part of the double degree curriculum.

All other language modules (first and second year, e.g. Czech) are not part of the curriculum, but can be attended nevertheless.
